The RCC slab cost in Delhi NCR in 2026 is typically about ₹200 – ₹300 per sq ft of slab area for a standard 5-inch (125 mm) residential roof slab in M20 concrete, including cement, steel, sand, aggregate, shuttering and labour. Add supporting beams, a thicker slab, ready-mix concrete or a hard-to-reach site and the figure rises towards ₹300 – ₹400 per sq ft. This guide shows the full RCC slab cost calculation, line by line, so you can check any contractor's quote.

RCC Slab Cost Per Sq Ft at a Glance (2026)

An RCC (reinforced cement concrete) slab is priced per sq ft of slab area, or per cubic metre of concrete for larger jobs. The table below gives indicative 2026 ranges for common house slabs in NCR. Treat them as planning figures; your structural design fixes the thickness, steel and concrete grade.

Slab typeTypical thicknessIndicative cost per sq ft (material + labour)
Roof slab, site-mixed M20, slab only125 mm (5")₹200 – ₹300
Roof slab, site-mixed M20, slab only150 mm (6")₹240 – ₹340
Slab with beams included in the rate125–150 mm₹300 – ₹400
Ready-mix concrete (RMC) with pump125–150 mmRoughly ₹20 – ₹50 more than site-mixed
Labour only (you supply material)Any₹40 – ₹80, with or without shuttering

Many small contractors quote "slab rate" that quietly includes or excludes beams, shuttering or steel. Always ask what the per-sq-ft figure covers before comparing quotes.

RCC Slab Cost Calculation: Step by Step

You can build your own RCC slab cost calculator on paper in six steps. The worked example uses 100 sq ft of 125 mm slab in nominal M20 concrete (1:1.5:3) at indicative 2026 NCR rates.

  1. Concrete volume: 100 sq ft × 5/12 ft = 41.7 cft, or about 1.18 cubic metres.
  2. Cement: M20 needs roughly 8 bags per cubic metre, so about 9.4 bags.
  3. Sand and aggregate: about 15 cft of sand and 30 cft of 20 mm aggregate per cubic metre, so roughly 17.5 cft and 35 cft.
  4. Steel: two-way house slabs commonly use about 80 – 110 kg of TMT per cubic metre, so about 95 – 130 kg. Your bar bending schedule gives the exact figure.
  5. Shuttering: priced per sq ft of slab soffit plus edges.
  6. Labour: steel fixing, concreting, vibration and curing.

Sand17.5 cft₹55 per cft₹960
Aggregate (20 mm + 10 mm)35 cft₹60 per cft₹2,100
TMT steel95 – 130 kg₹65 per kg₹6,200 – ₹8,450
Binding wire, cover blocks, admixtureLump sum–₹500 – ₹900
Shuttering (hire and labour)100 sq ft₹25 – ₹45 per sq ft₹2,500 – ₹4,500
Labour (steel fixing, concreting, curing)100 sq ft₹30 – ₹55 per sq ft₹3,000 – ₹5,500
Total₹19,000 – ₹26,200 (about ₹190 – ₹262 per sq ft)

Add a margin for wastage, water, electrical conduits laid in the slab, contractor overheads and GST if applicable, and you arrive at the ₹200 – ₹300 per sq ft range above. Cement and steel rates match the thumb rules in our house construction cost per sq ft guide (₹400 a bag and ₹65 a kg).

RCC Slab Construction Cost for a Whole Floor

For a floor, multiply the slab area (including balconies and projections) by the rate. Because steel is the biggest single line item, the table shows how steel intensity changes the total.

Slab areaLight steel (~₹200/sq ft)Typical (~₹250/sq ft)Heavier / with beams (~₹350/sq ft)
600 sq ft₹1.2 lakh₹1.5 lakh₹2.1 lakh
1,000 sq ft₹2.0 lakh₹2.5 lakh₹3.5 lakh
1,500 sq ft₹3.0 lakh₹3.75 lakh₹5.25 lakh

As a cross-check, our construction cost model puts the whole RCC frame and slabs at about 23 per cent of the building cost. On a standard-quality home at ₹2,450 per sq ft, that is roughly ₹560 per sq ft of built-up area for columns, beams, slabs, lintels, chajjas and the staircase together, of which the slab itself is typically less than half. If a quote for the slab alone approaches that figure, ask for a breakdown.

What Makes RCC Slab Cost Go Up or Down

  • Span and thickness: longer spans need thicker slabs and more steel. A 6" slab uses 20 per cent more concrete than a 5" slab.
  • Concrete grade: M25 needs more cement than M20; most houses use M20 or M25 as the engineer specifies.
  • Beams and drops: slabs with many beams, drops for bathrooms or cantilevered balconies need more formwork and labour.
  • Ready-mix vs site mix: RMC costs more per cubic metre plus pump charges, but gives consistent quality and a faster, continuous pour.
  • Site access: narrow lanes in older Delhi colonies mean manual lifting and small batches, adding labour.
  • Floor level: lifting materials to the second or third floor adds hoist or labour cost.
  • Steel and cement prices: both move through the year; buying in bulk when rates dip helps.

Slab Thickness, Cover and Curing Basics

Residential slabs in NCR are commonly 125 mm to 150 mm thick for room spans of about 3.5 to 4.5 metres, but the right thickness depends on span, support conditions and loads, and must come from a qualified structural engineer. A few site basics protect what you are paying for:

  • Cover blocks: the bottom steel should sit on proper cover blocks, not bricks or stones, to maintain the cover shown on the drawing (commonly around 20 mm for slabs in normal exposure).
  • Top steel: use chairs to hold negative steel over supports at the right height; workers walking on it must not flatten it.
  • Compaction: use a needle vibrator; honeycombing weakens the slab and invites leaks.
  • Curing: keep the slab wet by ponding or wet hessian for at least 7 days with OPC and at least 10 days with PPC, longer in summer. Our guide to the best cement for house construction explains why.
  • De-shuttering: props under the slab stay in place for the period your engineer specifies, typically longer for longer spans. Removing them early to reuse shuttering is a common and risky shortcut.
The cheapest slab is the one you pour once. Leaks, sagging and cracks from poor cover, compaction or curing cost many times the savings to repair.

How to Check an RCC Slab Quote

  1. Confirm whether the rate is per sq ft of slab only, or includes beams, lintels and chajjas.
  2. Check the concrete grade (M20 or M25), slab thickness and whether RMC or site mix is assumed.
  3. Ask for the steel quantity in kg from the bar bending schedule, and whether steel is billed at actual weight.
  4. Confirm who provides shuttering, water, electricity, vibrator and curing.
  5. Check whether GST and debris removal are included.
  6. Insist on cube tests for important pours and a pre-pour inspection of steel and formwork.

Steel is the item most often inflated or under-supplied, so read our guide to TMT bars for house construction for grades, bar weights and site checks.
