Overview

Using the roof safely and well

In dense parts of Delhi NCR, the roof is often the only open space a home or business has. A well-designed terrace garden can become an extra living room, a place for evening gatherings, a quiet spot for the office team or a seating area for a rooftop cafe. It can also help keep the floor below a little cooler in summer.

But a roof garden sits on top of a building that was not always designed to carry it. Wet soil is heavy, planters hold water against the slab, and blocked drains can cause leaks into the flat below. That is why we start every terrace project with the technical checks: the structure and its likely load capacity, the condition of the existing waterproofing, and the drainage outlets and slopes.

We then plan the planters, choosing their positions, sizes and soil depths so heavier elements sit where the structure can take them, typically over beams and columns, with lighter options where needed. Waterproofing and drainage are coordinated so water drains freely and the slab stays protected. Where the load needs expert assessment, our structural engineers review it.

With the technical base settled, we design the garden itself: seating, pergolas or shade sails, lighting and a plant palette that can handle strong sun, heat reflected from surrounding roofs and wind at height. The result is a rooftop that is green, usable and safe for the building below, whether it is a flat terrace in Noida, a builder floor roof in Delhi or an office terrace in Gurugram.

Scope of Work

What terrace and rooftop design includes

01

Load review

Planter weights planned against the structure, with engineering review where needed.

02

Waterproofing coordination

Planters and finishes coordinated with waterproofing to protect the slab.

03

Drainage planning

Outlets and slopes checked so water drains freely from planters and floors.

04

Planter layout

Planter positions, sizes and soil depths designed for plants and structure.

05

Seating and shade

Sit-outs, pergolas and shade structures for comfortable use.

06

Sun and wind planting

Plants chosen to cope with heat, strong light and wind at height.

How It Works

Your project in 4 clear steps

  1. 01 Roof inspection

We inspect the terrace, drainage outlets and existing waterproofing.

  2. 02 Load and layout

We place planters and features to suit the structure, with engineering input.

  3. 03 Garden design

We design seating, shade, lighting and the plant palette.

  4. 04 Handover guidance

You receive drawings, a plant list and care notes for the installer.

Client Voices

What our clients say

"We handed over an empty 3BHK and got back a home that finally feels like us. The team listened to how we actually live — not how a catalogue thinks we should — and it shows in every corner."

R Rohit & Meera KhannaHomeowners, DLF Phase 4, Gurgaon

"The modular kitchen is the star of my house now. Soft-close everything, a pull-out for my masala dabbas, and not a single wasted inch. My mother-in-law approves, which is the real 5 stars."

S Sana QureshiHomeowner, Sector 78, Noida

"What sold me was the 3D walkthrough — what I saw on screen is exactly what got built. No surprises, no 'arre sir yeh possible nahi hai' after booking."

Questions about terrace & rooftop gardens

Can’t find your answer? Call or WhatsApp us — we reply quickly.

Many terraces can take a garden if it is planned sensibly, but it cannot be assumed. We look at the structure and plan heavier planters over beams and columns, using lighter planters and growing media where needed. For larger gardens or older buildings, our structural engineers review the load before the design is finalised.
Leakage usually comes from damaged waterproofing or blocked drainage, both of which a poorly planned garden can make worse. We check the existing waterproofing first, coordinate planters so water drains freely, and recommend repair or new waterproofing where needed before planting begins. Regular drain cleaning remains important.
Rooftops face stronger sun, reflected heat and more wind than ground-level gardens. We choose hardy, heat-tolerant plants and use shade structures to protect more delicate species. Drip irrigation helps keep watering consistent during the hottest months, when rooftop plants are most at risk.
Yes. For commercial rooftops we plan seating capacity, service routes, shade, lighting and planting together, and coordinate loads, waterproofing and drainage. Commercial use of a terrace may require permissions depending on the authority and building, so we recommend confirming this early with our approvals team.
