Overview

Harvesting rain water the right way for your plot

Groundwater levels across much of Delhi NCR have fallen sharply, and most development authorities now require a rain water harvesting (RWH) system for buildings above a specified plot size as part of building plan approval. The threshold and format vary between authorities, so we check the applicable requirement for your project at the start.

A working RWH system is more than a pit in the corner of the plot. We calculate the roof catchment area and expected runoff, then design the collection pipes, a silt or filter chamber to keep debris out, and a recharge pit, trench or bore that suits the soil and water table. Where you want to reuse the water for gardening, flushing or cleaning, we add a storage tank with an overflow to the recharge system.

Location matters. The recharge structure should be away from building foundations and from septic tanks or other contamination sources, and reachable by the roof down pipes without long horizontal runs. On compact urban plots in Delhi, Noida or Ghaziabad, we often place it under the front setback or driveway with an accessible cover for cleaning.

For larger sites such as farm houses, schools and institutions, the system may combine several recharge points, paved area runoff and a larger storage tank. In every case, the drawings are prepared so they can be attached to your approval file and followed on site.

Who this is for
  • New buildings needing plan approval
  • Farm houses
  • Schools and institutions
  • Group housing and societies
  • Owners wanting to reuse rain water
Scope of Work

What the RWH design covers

01

Catchment assessment

Roof and paved areas measured to work out the collectable runoff.

02

Runoff calculation

Design runoff based on catchment area and local rainfall intensity.

03

Filter and silt chamber

A chamber that traps leaves and silt before water reaches the recharge point.

04

Recharge structure

Recharge pit, trench or bore sized to suit the soil and water table.

05

Storage for reuse

Optional storage tank with overflow to recharge, for garden or flushing use.

06

Approval drawings

RWH plans and sections in the format needed for plan submission.

How It Works

Your project in 4 clear steps

  1. 01 Check requirement and site

We confirm the authority requirement and study the plot, roof and drainage.

  2. 02 Calculate runoff

Catchment area and design runoff are worked out for your roof and open areas.

  3. 03 Design the system

Pipes, filter chamber, recharge structure and any storage are sized and positioned.

  4. 04 Prepare submission drawings

Plans and sections are prepared for the approval file and for site execution.

Why Panache

Reasons clients choose us

  • Architecture, interiors, engineering & approvals in one team
  • Written scope and fees before work starts
  • Coordinated, construction-ready drawings
  • One point of contact throughout
  • Local knowledge across Delhi NCR
  • 10+ years, 3,500+ projects
How fees work

Engineering fees are quoted per square foot of built-up area or as a fixed amount per discipline (structural, electrical, plumbing). Supervision is quoted per visit or as a package for the whole construction period.

Client Voices

What our clients say

"We handed over an empty 3BHK and got back a home that finally feels like us. The team listened to how we actually live — not how a catalogue thinks we should — and it shows in every corner."

Questions about rain water harvesting design

Can’t find your answer? Call or WhatsApp us — we reply quickly.

In most Delhi NCR authorities it is compulsory above a specified plot size, and it is checked during building plan approval and sometimes at completion. The threshold differs between Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and other authorities, so we confirm the current requirement for your specific plot before designing the system.
The size depends on roof area, local rainfall intensity, the soil and the depth to groundwater. A small house roof needs a much smaller structure than a school or farm house. We calculate the runoff for your plot and size the pit, trench or bore so it can take the design flow without overflowing.
Roof water can be stored and used for gardening, flushing and cleaning with basic filtration. Using it for drinking needs proper treatment and testing, and we generally recommend recharge or non-potable reuse for residential systems. If you want potable use, a water treatment specialist should be involved.
The filter or silt chamber should be cleaned before the monsoon and checked after heavy spells. Roof outlets and gutters need clearing of leaves and debris. The recharge media may need periodic cleaning or replacement over time. We include simple maintenance notes with the drawings so the system keeps working.
